Media Lab Project
The Media Lab Project is a collaborative on-going project between Lens on Life and Kurdistan Save the Children (KSC), aimed at empowering Syrian refugee youth through photography. Launched in September 2022, the project established a fully equipped center within Arbat Refugee camp (a Syrian refugee camp) , initially enrolling six students (4 males and 2 females).
The program offers a comprehensive nine-month curriculum, beginning with a six-month training phase that covers:
- The history and fundamentals of photography
- Techniques and genres
- Visual storytelling
- Portfolio development
- Exhibition preparation
- Photoshop skills
Upon completion of the training phase, students dedicate an additional three months to independent project work, during which they develop personal photography projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These projects are later showcased in a curated public exhibition.
The program admits a new cohort of up to 10 participants every October, with classes held twice a week for two hours per session.
The Media Lab continues to provide a platform for creative expression, skill development, and youth empowerment in displaced communities.
