Helping children and their families to solve problems facing them has always motivated KSC to expand its activities.  In line with this mission, KSC is presently happy to announce a birth of a new KSC Sector given the name of ARA meaning Hope Sector,

The main objective of the Sector is to bring hope to the cancer-stricken children and their families. KSC provides psychological, social, and financial support for the cancer-stricken children and their families.

1- We Raise the awareness of the general public about child cancer and how to deal with it.
2- We Provide a healing environment for children undergoing treatment for cancer.
3- We work towards early diagnosis and better medical treatments.

APPEAL

Cancer is the main cause of death by disease in children. Every three minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide. This child might be someone you know and love. During 2013-2014 around 1200 children aged from 0-18 years old received treatment for cancer in Sulaimaniyah alone, this number includes old and new patients from all over Kurdistan and Iraq, refugees and IDPs. The estimated cost of treatment for every cancer-stricken child is more than $100,000. Fortunately, children have a better chance of survival; around 80% of cancer-stricken children survive and live a full and healthy life. Kurdistan Save the Children pushed for this cure by providing diagnosed children and their families with social, psychological and financial support. You too can be part of treating a child with cancer.
